I tend to say, I’m not just a lawyer.

Instead, I’m a seasoned commercial and business strategist with a genuine passion for startups and entrepreneurialism.

I left “big law” and moved in house in pursuit of a real world, on-the-ground experience of business. I love the dynamic world of start ups and scale ups - the pace, the ambition, the creative thinking and the chance to turn vision into direction. 

I started my career at international law firm, A&O Shearman, working in mergers and acquisitions in both London and Hong Kong. I then moved in-house, first to the legal team at Formula One, the pinnacle of motorsport racing which was run at the time by Bernie Ecclestone/CVC, and then to Wasserman, a fast-growing media group, headquartered in Los Angeles but with ambitious growth plans in Europe. After a life move took me from London to Cambridge, I joined biotech startup, Congenica as General Counsel; a role which included guiding the business through significant growth stages and Series B & C funding rounds.

Since then I have worked on a freelance basis for countless small businesses across a whole range of sectors (including retail, sport, media, software, real estate, biotech, medtech and more), delivering legal and business projects small and large.

I have seen firsthand how intimidating the legal landscape can be for founders and startups; especially to those new to the corporate world. All too often it can also be expensive, slow moving and seemingly incapable of offering tailored, pragmatic advice. But it needn’t be like this. I pride myself on translating my legal experience into practical, sensible advice and with subscriptions to fantastic new legal AI tools, I can afford to keep my pricing competitive whilst maintaining the quality and expertise you’d expect from a large law firm.
